The Ghosts of Affordable Housing: Access and Health
Join us for this free talk given by , Professor at University of California, Davis.
Our future prosperity depends not only on a sustainable material economy, but also on a sustainable social economy. As populations increasingly urbanize, access to affordable housing -- and its urban landscape assets -- becomes a critical marker of equity, and an indicator of a socially just and sustainable society. This talk uses the rise and fall of affordable housing in San Francisco to explore what happens when dubious infrastructure decisions coupled with a lack of government transparency are confronted with sudden economic growth.
A workshop hosted by Marianne Hatzopoulou, Assistant Professor in Transportation Engineering at the Department of Civil Engineering and Applied Mechanics, ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University. Offered in partnership with the Trottier Institute for Sustainability in Engineering and Design (TISED).
