Overview
A minor in Indigenous studies at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ provides you with a broad interdisciplinary approach to central topics in the historical, social, and cultural dimensions of Indigenous life on Turtle Island (North America). Â
The core courses offered in the program focus on engaging with Indigenous knowledge systems and societies in ways that promote the resurgence of these systems. The program also places an emphasis on the field of Indigenous Studies’ distinct methodologies, expectations, and reciprocity in the program's Indigenous community partnerships. Â
The program has been an essential site of Indigenous community engagement and outreach. By organizing and sponsoring public events, community outreach projects and bringing visitors to ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ through the annual Indigenous Knowledge Holder Series, the program serves as a keystone for Indigenous initiative and community building on campus. Â

Student Experience
The Mellon Indigenous Studies and Community Engagement Initiative (ISCEI) is designed to build and expand on existing Indigenous initiatives both on and off campus. Awards are available to support off-campus travel that contributes to Indigenous research and community engagement. It supports travel for Indigenous students who wish to pursue professional development, and travel for any ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ students to work on advancing Indigenous Studies and community engagement research, projects and initiatives. Â
