First movie was simply cool, though it was based on real story, still mixed up for entertainment purpose, but quite realistic. Expecting this one to be more realistic as this is also a real story of a murder mystery.

The second film in the Talvar franchise will take the original story forward. Titled Talvar 2, the film is expected to focus on a gruesome murder of a child in a Gurugram school. Talvar 2 will be produced by Junglee Pictures and Vishal Bhardwaj. Bhardwaj will also direct the second installment.

Bhardwaj had written the screenplay for the first film. A TOI report quoted Vishal Bhardwaj saying, “Talvar was about much more than the heinous crime itself, the film held up a mirror to society and exposed several loopholes in the system.”

The first film featuring Konkona Sen Sharma and Neeraj Kabi, was based on the story of the 2008 Noida double murder case of a 13-year-old girl named Aarushi Talwar and 45-year-old domestic worked Hemraj Banjade. Hemraj was a live-in worker employed by Aarushi’s family.

The two were killed on the night of May 15-16, 2008 at Aarushi’s home under suspicious circumstances. The case became a national interest due to the gruesome condition of the murders and dead leads in catching the suspect. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the first film had Irrfan Khan in a pivotal role.

Talvar 2: Vishal Bhardwaj To Make Film On Ryan International Student’s Murder; Parents Unaware. The film has been inspired by the brutal murder case of seven-year-old Pradyuman Thakur, the Ryan International School’s student, which had left everyone shaken. Bhardwaj will be writing as well as directing the film.

A Class II student, Pradyuman was found near the toilet of the school with his throat slit on the morning of September 8, 2017, within an hour of his father leaving him at the school.

The case has similarities to the Aarushi and Hemraj murders depicted in Talvar as it was again a case of police botching up the probe. The police had arrested Ashok Kumar, the school bus conductor, and even extracted a confession out of him. However, once the case was handed over to CBI, Kumar was let free and a Class XI student was detained.

the second instalment of this celebrated franchise Talvar, Bhardwaj said, “Talvar was about much more than the heinous crime itself, the film held up a mirror to society and exposed several loopholes in the system. Such crimes shake the very moral fabric of society and need to be analysed in a much deeper sense. The world is not just black and white, there’s more to a crime than just victim and perpetrator. That’s why we have decided to continue making true crime procedurals like Talvar.”
