Software and Equipment Loan AgreementsÌý
The information on this page applies to the use of Glean, LiveScribe Smart Pen and any another recording devices used to record lectures that are provided to the student through Student Accessibility and Achievement.Ìý
The use of specialized software constitutes a learning support which can be granted to ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ students registered with Student Accessibility and Achievement. Such software can assist in improving acquisition, retention, and review of information provided in class. Students who loan equipment and/or software through Student Accessibility and Achievement are required to sign a loan agreement with the office. A part of this agreement is the requirement for students to obtain permission from their course instructor to record class lectures (both in-person and virtual).ÌýÌý
Other important components of the loan agreement include:Ìý

All audio recordings, notes, and visual material produced with the software must be used solely for the individual study purposes of the student with a disability

Disclosure, further use, or distribution of these materials in any way are subject to discipline under the ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University Student Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures (s.18)ÌýÌý

For recording software, the student must obtain consent from each course instructor prior to recording the lecture, conference, tutorial, or other course content. Any issues concerning consent to record should be brought up to Student Accessibility and Achievement by emailingÌýaccess.achieve [at] mcgill.caÌý

ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University cannot guarantee that all professors will consent to the use of recording devices or computers in their classroom
