Since 2008, theÌýInstitute for the Study of International Development (ISID) has contributed to the generation of original development research, in addition to training future ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ of researchers, teachers, policymakers and development practitioners in a multidisciplinary approach to international development. The institute's strength in the social sciences and humanities has enriched its discussions of today's most fundamental challenges including food security, health and climate change. In the words of ISID director Philip Oxhorn, "we bring human societies and the people who compose them to the forefront of efforts to find practical solutions to some of today's most pressing development challenges."
