Budget hacks on—and off—campus:

Find affordable housing nearby

Montreal has affordable housing opportunities unique among major Canadian cities.  Traditions of lease transfers between students keep rents low year after year.

Read one student's weekly budget

In Money Diaries: A week in a student’s life, a ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ student walks us through her budget for a typical week as a student, including balancing necessities, social life, work, and academics.

Live and learn in Montreal

ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ offers resources for students interested in off-campus housing, including an FAQ, transit maps, and standard rental costs.

Find community through food

Midnight Kitchen is a non-profit, worker and volunteer-run collective dedicated to providing accessible food to as many people as possible. The group hosts popular education workshops on various topics which are always catered with a vegan, nut-free meal.

Stock up with bulk options

Buy Your Own Bulk is a student run non-for-profit with the goal to provide affordable, organic, and fair-trade dry foods to the ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ community while reducing waste production through the promotion of healthy and sustainable eating habits.

Find off-campus eats

Montreal is full of hidden gems offering cheap eats and budget groceries. Seagal's in the Plateau and Supermarché PA are favourites with students shopping on a budget.  The Office of Scholarships and Student Aid has put together a Cheap Sheet featuring tips and tricks for staying on budget.

Hit the books

The WUSC library is a wonderful resource available to all students who wish to loan a textbook for the duration of their course. This project was designed to mitigate the increasing prices of textbooks.

Access free course material

ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Library’s Course Readings & Course Reserves was developed in response to student concerns about the high cost of course material. Access and scan library material assigned by professors, or request scanned materials.

There’s something for everyone at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ

Find other types of support and connect with your community on campus.

ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University is on land that long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst
Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg nations. We acknowledge
