Mac Paddle Shack to open soon
We are excited to announce the opening this summer of the Mac Paddle Shack.  Operated by Athletics and Recreation and servicing the ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ community as well as John Abbott, Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue and the general public, the Mac Paddle Shack will offer hourly kayak, stand up paddle board (SUP) and canoe rentals, paddling instruction and paddle board yoga classes.
Constructed from re-purposed shipping containers, based on design by Professor David Covo of ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ’s School of Architecture, the Mac Paddle Shack will feature a rental kiosk, boat storage and dock. A soon-to-be launched app will allow paddlers to book and pay for boat rentals or classes from their mobile device. Bookings can also be made through On-Line Services from the Mac Athletics and Recreation website.
The Mac Paddle Shack takes advantage of our unique waterfront location and will be situated on two of the four Mac tennis courts south of Lakeshore Rd. Construction on the site has started, with the containers and docks arriving in the next few weeks. Once up and running, ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ will be the only Canadian university with a boat house on campus and along with the outdoor gym, fields, volleyball court and Morgan Arboretum offers the Mac community unprecedented access to a superior selection of outdoor recreational facilities.
Congratulations and thanks to Jill Barker, Director of Athletics and Recreation here at Macdonald for bringing this project to life.
Keep your eye on this site and on the website and for construction updates and opening day news.
