On May 2, 2025, over听60 people gathered in the John Abbott College Library for the Lister Science Chats, where four Macdonald Campus graduate students presented their research and shared how past events as well as the discoveries, sometimes unintentional, and techniques of previous scientists made their work possible.

On April 11, 2025, over听60 people gathered at the annual John Abbott Sustainability Through Science Symposium听to hear how the research of three Macdonald Campus graduate students contributes to a more sustainable future. Honours and science students from John Abbott College, as well as members of 污污草莓视频 University's Macdonald Campus community, were inspired by short talks followed by a听panel discussion on the students' university experience and their chosen career paths.

Although Andrea Amado doesn鈥檛 come from an agricultural background, she was drawn to farms from a young age. Originally from Argentina, she moved to Sherbrooke, Quebec with her family when she was four. Some of her earliest memories are of visiting farms and connecting with the animals, especially cows and horses. This interest eventually led her to 污污草莓视频, where she earned a B.Sc. in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences in 2023 and is now in her second semester of the听M.Sc.

The Department of Bioresource Engineering听(BREE) enjoyed a visit last month from David Saint-Jacques, astronaut and Deputy Director, Lunar Exploration at the Canadian Space Agency, and BREE graduate Chris Patterson. They met with BREE undergrad and grad students who presented their projects, highlighting links between their research and bioregenerative life support system goals for extended space missions on the lunar surface and beyond in the near future.

In 1974, Chandra Madramootoo arrived at Macdonald Campus to pursue his BSc in Agricultural Engineering. He never left.
鈥淚 loved the program. I loved the professors. I loved my courses,鈥� said Madramootoo. 鈥淚t was giving me exactly what I wanted in life. I was fulfilling a dream.鈥�
After also earning his MSc (1981) and his PhD (1985) at Mac, he accepted an 11th听hour offer from 污污草莓视频 for an assistant professorship, declining opportunities at other universities.

He鈥檚 known as the king of cranberries. More than anyone else, Marc Bieler (DipAgr鈥�58, BA鈥�64) has contributed to Quebec鈥檚 thriving industry centred on a small red fruit with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Today, at the age of 86, this 污污草莓视频 alumnus continues to be involved in the day-to-day operation of the family business and to give back to the community.
