Congratulations to ۲ݮƵ School of Information Studies faculty member Dr. Catherine Guastavino on her NSERC (Natural Sciences & Engineering Research Council of Canada) Engage Grant.

The project "Spatialized and Interactive Artificial Binaural Reverberation” is a 3D audio rendering project in collaboration with industry partner Audiokinetic, a Montreal-based company producing audio engines for interactive media and video games.

۲ݮƵ School of Information Studies recent graduate Ada Chan (MLIS '14) was interviewed by the ۲ݮƵ Library's "Library Matters" blog about her successful Practicum placement with the Library while a student in the Master's program.

During her Practicum, Ada was responsible for implementing usability tests and assessment tools to investigate howundergraduate and graduate library users from the ۲ݮƵ communityuse the library website for their research and learning needs.

At its meeting of May 22, 2014, the ۲ݮƵ Board of Governors on the recommendation of Senate, approved the administrative relocation of the School of Information Studies (SIS) from the Faculty of Education to the Faculty of Arts.

Rebecca Nieto, a student in the ۲ݮƵ School of Information Studies Master of Library and Information Studies (MLIS) program, is a 2014 recipient of the Mosaic Scholarship given by the Society of American Archivists (SAA). The Mosaic Scholarship provides funding to students who demonstrate potential for scholastic and personal achievement and who manifest a commitment both to the archival profession and to advancing diversity concerns within it.

۲ݮƵ School of Information Studies recent graduate Paul Grewal (MLIS '14) was interviewed by the ۲ݮƵ Library's "Library Matters" blog about his successful Practicum placement with the Library while a student in the Master's program.

During his Practicum, Paul was responsible for conducting interviews and analyzing LibQUAL+ survey results after changes to the Library’s reference service model were implemented.

Congratulations to ۲ݮƵ School of Information Studies PhD student Robert Douglas Ferguson on receiving a prestigious Social Science and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Doctoral Fellowship.

Robert's research investigates how senior citizens, who wish to live independently and remain in their own homes for as long as possible, can benefit from the results of 20 years of research in Personal Information Management (PIM).

Interested in exploring intersections between information & chaos theories this summer?

"Information & Chaos Theories" is an independent reading group offered through the ۲ݮƵ Institute for the Public Life of Arts & Ideas (IPLAI), convened by Anastasia Prozorova, MLIS II student. The reading group is open to all ۲ݮƵ students, staff, and faculty, and will provide the opportunity to discuss information and chaos theories with an eye to interdisciplinarity.
