Violinist Mark Fewer is well-known for his ability to fit seamlessly into a variety of musical situations, from harpsichord duets to . This Friday, December 1, Montreal audiences will be able to hear him in yet another setting as he appears as the soloist on Ligeti’s Concerto for Violin and Orchestra along with the ۲ݮƵ Contemporary Music Ensemble. We spoke to Fewer in a recent email exchange to learn more about this upcoming performance.

It is with great sadness that we announce the recent passing of acclaimed faculty member Winston Purdy. Winston has been an Associate Professor of the Voice Faculty at the Schulich School of Music since 1973.

Soon after completing his undergraduate degree at Schulich, bass trombonist William Broverman (B.Mus 2016) set out on a career path that tops the list of many music students – a full-time position in an orchestra. Now playing with the Yucatan Symphony Orchestra in Mérida, Mexico, the in-demand British Columbia native is putting his Schulich training to use in over 50 orchestral concerts a year, not to mention the other gigs filling his schedule.

We are thrilled to announce that violinist Maïthéna Girault is this year's winner of the Golden Violin Award, following an exciting public competition held Sunday October 29, 2017 in Pollack Hall. Girault, accompanied by Meagan Milatz, performed the Allegro from Beethoven's Sonata for Piano and Violin No. 5 in F major, Op. 24, the Allegro Molto from Fauré's Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 1 in A major, Op. 13 and finished with the virtuosic Ravel's Tzigane.
