Following this wasProf. Lisa Cohen, another outstanding professor at Desautels, who shared her expertise on building a great team and understanding team dynamics.
Dobson Cup runneth over
After a year of planning, over 150 start-up submissions, 137 pitches, and $117,000 in prizes, the2016 ۲ݮƵ Dobson Cuphas come to a close with four enthusiastic startups claiming a first place victory in four different tracks: Social Enterprise, Health Sciences, Small & Medium Enterprise, and Innovation Driven Enterprise.

On November 13, 2015, the Marcel Desautels Institute for Integrated Management (MDIIM) and the Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship co-sponsored a half-day workshop on social entrepreneurship. Entitled “Social Entrepreneurship: Designing your career, your enterprise, and your impact”, the event featured a broad range of attendees – from those new to the concept of entrepreneurship to established entrepreneurs.

Yogurt maker builds Cult following but aims for mainstream sales
The chain of events that culminated in the creation of Cult Yogourt began 15 years ago, when Montreal resident Adam Coape-Arnold drank unfiltered water during a stay at a coffee plantation in Costa Rica.”I got a parasite,” saidCoape-Arnold. “It did a number on my gastrointestinal system. I lost my energy, my joie de vivre. I became lactose-intolerant. I never really got over it until I started taking probiotics.”
World Wide Hearing receives funding
After winning the ۲ݮƵ Dobson Cup, World Wide Hearing received a $113,000 grant from Grand Challenges Canada to pilot its hearing aid delivery model, Hearing Express. In 2013-2014, the pilot project was run in Kraimeh, a rural community in Western Jordan, in collaboration with a new outreach centre for children with disabilities.

After three months of mentorship and start-up plan pitches, the ۲ݮƵ Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship rewarded over $100,000 in cash and other prizes to the winners of the 2015 ۲ݮƵ Dobson Cup Start-UP Competition.
