PhD, Operations Management, University of Texas, Austin, USA
MSc, Industrial Management, Georgia Institute of Technology, USA
Shanling Li is Professor of Operations Management/Management Science at Faculty of Management of ۲ݮƵ University, Canada. She served as Associate Dean of Research and International Relations between 2009 and 2013 and Director of Management Science Research Center at the Faculty in the period of 1999-2013. She also served as the area coordinator in management science between 2001 and 2004. She held Kuang Yamin Professorship at Jilin University and visiting positions at Xiamen University and Dalian University of Technology in China where she taught EMBA, PhD and MBA courses. She received her PhD in Operations Management (OM) with minor in Operations Research from University of Texas at Austin in 1991, and MS in Industrial Management from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1985. She has taught a diversity of courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels including Supply Management, Procurement and Distribution, The Internet and Manufacturing; Analysis of Production System; Technology Management; Total Quality Management and Operations Management.
Shanling Li has four active streams of research: (i) integration of OM with finance and marketing; (ii) technology and capacity management under uncertainties; (iii) supply chain management (SCM); and (iv) productivity analysis. The research on the integration of OM and finance focuses on the impact of operational and financial hedging on the choice between overseas and domestic suppliers facing a risk averse-firm. Li also considers the effect of advertising expenditure on pricing as well as market share of two opposite products in centralized and decentralized food chains. The research on technology and capacity management focuses on dynamic technology acquisitions as well as capacity investment planning. In supply chain management, Li focuses on analyzing the interaction between manufacturers and suppliers in a variety of business paradigms. Lastly, Li also conducted varies empirical works to study efficiency and productivity in various industries, including textiles and software. Her works appeared in Management Science (MS), Operations Research (OR), Manufacturing & Service Operations Management (M&SOM), Production and Operations Management (POM), Information Systems Research (ISR), Journal of Operations Management (JOM), European Journal of Operational Research (EJOR), International Journal of Production Research (IJPR), International Journal of Production Economics (IJPE), Journal of the Operational Research Society (JORS), Journal of Productivity Analysis (JPA) and Socio-Economic Planning Sciences (SEPS).
Shanling Li sits on the editorial boards for several journals. Among others, she currently serves as the associate editor for Production and Operations Management and also was an associate editor of IEEE. She served as a referee for many journals including IIE Transactions, IJPE, MS, MISQ OR, POM, EJOR, IJPE and others.
