ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Seeds of Change – Tom Thompson Education Award
In celebration of three important milestones, the 85th birthday of a true ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ champion, the beginning of the University’s third century, and the upcoming 65th anniversary of his class, a brand new named award is being established in ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ's Faculty of Education to celebrate Thomas B. Thompson (BSc(PE) ’58, Med ’78), a Physical Education alumnus with a proven track record of community service.
The Thomas B. Thompson Award will be in honour of the honouree's birthday and the years of service that he has dedicated to the advancement of higher education spanning more than five decades. The goal is to endow the award through a collective fundraising goal of $100,000; however, the Faculty of Education and the Thompson family would like to enlist your support to achieve the first important milestone of $16,000 thus ensuring that there would be ample funding for the award. This will be an in course award that will be given to 2-3 deserving Physical Education Students per year who have demonstrated a commitment to community service. Should the minimum funding goal not be achieved, the funds will be used to support existing student awards for Physical Education students.
Tom’s family is making an initial donation of $5,000 to get the project underway. This will be an in course award that will be given to one or more deserving Physical Education Students who have demonstrated a commitment to community service. Will you show your support in helping to establish the Thomas B. Thompson Award?
