The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed January 24 as International Day of Education, in celebration of the role of education for peace and development.

New Quebec Excellence Scholarships Being Awarded to B.Ed. Students
Montreal, December 12, 2019 — The Quebec Minister of Education, Jean-François Roberge, has officially announced today the launch of the Bourses d’excellence aux futurs enseignants program, offering $15.8 million dollars in scholarship money to Education students enrolled in a full-time Bachelor of Education program leading to teacher certification. Maria Ezcurra, founder of the ۲ݮƵ Art Hive Initiative and Art Instructor, was presented Wednesday with the Visual Arts Diversity Award for 2019 by the Conseil des arts de Montréal. The award recognizes originality and diversity in the Montreal visual arts scene. Maria creates a committed art that evokes the memory, the gender, the feminine condition, the history, the culture, the migration and social norms.
Dr. Allison Gonsalves Speaks Out About the Polytechnique Massacre
The Department of Integrated Studies in Education's Dr. Allison Gonsalves was asked to speak at ۲ݮƵ's December 6th eventhonouring the memory of the victims of the Polytechnique Massacre;the 30th anniversary of the tragedy and the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. Dr. Gonsalves was there in her capacity as the Co-Chair for ۲ݮƵ's Senate Subcommittee on Women.

OFNIE Students From Northern Quebec Unite at Fall Convocation
Whereas the commute for most ۲ݮƵ students who are convocating in the fall is just a bus, metro, or car ride away to Place des Arts, the students from the Office of First Nations and Inuit Education (OFNIE) had a bigger journey to contend with. Youth Podcast Interviews ۲ݮƵ Graduate Students
Faculty Lecturer, Diane Dechief, and PhD Candidate, Rackeb Tesfaye at Broad Science @science_broads, worked with eight youth from Pierre Elliott Trudeau Elementary School and their teacher, Ms. Laura Annie Bouffard, to interview four Scientist and ۲ݮƵ Graduate Students, Alexandra Gelle, Chelsea Bishop, Debarati Das and Scott Bell, for a podcast involving the youth in discussions and activities related to science communication.
