Make an Impact as a Volunteer TechAccel Mentor
A large part of TechAccel grants are the mentors which advise each team helping them overcome challenges and accomplish their project goals.
Each TechAccel team is matched with a mentor to help advise them on their project milestones. Your main objective is to help guide the team and advise them when needed. You will be able to view the team's progress and communicate with them using the Empowered Startups Platform. Depending on your familiarity with the business model canvas you will be asked to complete up to 6 modules (total of X hours) so that you are familiar with what your mentee will be learning and can guide them along the way.
TechAccel projects typically last between 3-6 months (flexible depending on complexity and milestones). Mentors meet with the teams every three weeks to review progress and answer any questions. TechAccel teams must also produce a midterm report and a final report which the mentor is responsible for reviewing and providing feedback on. TechAccel grants are awarded three times (October, February and June). Depending on your availability you can coach 1 -2 teams for one or multiple award sessions. When applying just specify what you are available to take on.
Similarly to other mentoring guidelines across ۲ݮƵ, the following guidelines are put in place to promote a positive mentoring relationship wherein it helps both parties, the mentor and the mentee, learn enjoyably and apply their learnings. Our overall goal is to facilitate the entrepreneurial activity that will advance an idea, technology or product toward commercialization/social impact: Mentoring Guidelines and Commitment
Mentorship and advising are key elements to helping ۲ݮƵ students learn and develop their technological ideas. This project based learning and the opportunities developed throughout the project's life cycle are essential to challenging students to improve that status quo.
