Biography: Dr. Tom Roland currently holds positions as a Professor of the NYU Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and Neurosurgery, and serves as Co-Director of the NYU Neurofibromatosis Center. NYU Langone’s Cochlear Implant Center stands out as a leading institution for both clinical care and research in the United States. Dr. Roland's expertise lies in skull base surgery and the restoration of hearing through minimally invasive methods. Having authored over 300 published manuscripts, served as editor of four textbooks, and contributed numerous chapters to textbooks, Dr. Roland is extensively engaged in academia. He has a passion for teaching, having contributed to surgical procedures in more than 12 countries and maintaining ongoing projects in Uganda and Israel for the past 18 years. Additionally, he holds the position of president-elect for the American Neurotologic Society and is frequently invited as a keynote speaker at international conferences. Actively engaged in professional societies like the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the American Neurotologic and Otologic Societies, and the North American Skull Base Surgery Society, Dr. Roland also advises several companies specializing in ear and skull base surgery equipment. Recognizing hearing loss as a significant global issue, he finds great fulfillment in the ability to restore or provide hearing for individuals, viewing it as a uniquely meaningful experience. Ìý |
