Mark Karanofsky, MD, Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal for his service to the community as the Director of the Herzl clinic and for his contributions to the Jewish General Hospital and Jewish Eldercare Centre as a clinician and physician leader.
The presentation ceremony was held at Temple Emanu-EI-Beth Sholom in Montreal on October 27, with attendance from Senator Marc Gold. The Coronation Medal was created to mark the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, which took place on May 6, 2023. It is the first Canadian commemorative medal to mark a coronation.
Previously, Dr. Karanofsky was the Undergraduate Program Director for the Department of Family Medicine. In 2004 he completed his Family Medicine residency at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University and then worked in Ottawa for three years. He has general practice in Family Medicine, works in a long-term care centre (CHSLD) and in the Diabetic Foot Ulcer clinic. In addition to his clinical work, he is the President of the Conseil des médecins, dentistes et pharmaciens (CMDP) for the CIUSSS du Centre-Ouest-de-l'ÃŽle-de-Montréal and the lead physician for his group in Jewish Eldercare Centre.
