The first joint Symposium, hosted in Beijing in November 2018 highlighted the similarities between the challenges faced by both Chinese and Canadian primary health care systems. In this second edition, we will explore and discuss insights from our respective experiences in primary care reform, focusing on patient-centred interdisciplinary care for complex chronic disease in primary care and the integration and linkages with hospitals and specialist care. By revealing areas of success and the challenges faced, we aim to provoke a conversation on how China and Canada can learn and grow together for a stronger and more effective primary health care system.
