۲ݮƵ Family Medicine Department launches its Family Medicine Innovations in Learning initiative

Published: 13 October 2017

Montreal, October 13, 2017 - With its new Family Medicine Innovations in Learning initiative (FMIL), ۲ݮƵ Family Medicine Department is proud to announce that it is now establishing partnerships across the world and online programs to share years of experience in care, teaching and research.

Internationally, 31 students from the city of Shenzhen in China are now part of the FMIL programs and will welcome two ۲ݮƵ professors in December 2017. Future partnerships include the Faculty of Santa Marcelina in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

“Part of the Department of Family Medicine’s mandate is to contribute to population health and health care system sustainability not only in Quebec and Canada, but internationally as well,” says Rachel Simmons, FMIL Project Manager.

Beyond the international scene, FMIL is also creating a faculty development curriculum for its own disparate staff and faculty. With sites spread across Quebec, the new FMIL online programs feature interactive and active learning principles that allow a much wider dissemination of material, and provide greater support to our many students, clinical teachers and supervisors.

“Through innovative blended learning programs, we are able to better reach a new generation of students with different needs, both in English and French,” concludes Simmons.

۲ݮƵ Family Medicine Department is home to an exceptional community of primary health care professionals, researchers, students and support staff, whose mission is to contribute to the health of the population and the sustainability of the healthcare system in Quebec as well as in Canada and internationally.
