Canadian Non-Resident students or new Permanent Residents who are not eligible for the Ìýand have no insurance coverage or whose private insurance is not adequate, have the option of enrolling in ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ's International Health Insurance (IHI) Plan. To do so they must complete the form below no later than September 30 (Fall Term) or January 31 (Winter Term) or May 31 (Summer Term).
For information on rates, please visit our IHI rates page.
If a Canadian student chooses to opt-in to the IHI plan, the charges for the supplemental health and dental portions of their respective student society’s insurance plans (SSMU, MCSS or PGSS) will not be automatically removed from the student's account. Students who are currently in the three-month waiting period following RAMQ registration may wish to remain enrolled in the supplemental health plan as there are extended benefits that may be of interest. Students, who opt-out of the supplemental health plan, cannot rejoin this plan until the next academic year. Students should evaluate their own situation prior to making a decision to opt out. Please be aware that the IHI plan only covers accidental dental expenses.
Processing for the Fall session will be done between August 1 and September 30. For the Winter & Summer sessions, processing will be done between December 1 and January 31 & between April 1 and May 30, respectively.
Canadian non-resident students can cancel coverage during the first 30 days of each new semester.
**Please note that students who wish to opt-in to the IHI plan must fill out a new webform at the beginning of each new academic year and/or term, depending on their situation.**
