Rosemary Bagot, PhD, joined ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ in 2016 where she establishedÌýtheÌý, a multidisciplinary, cutting-edge neuroscience facility that is pioneering research in stress, depression and resiliency.ÌýWith start-up funding from theÌýLudmerÌýCentre, as well as the federal and provincial governments, the laboratory is uniquely positioned to combine molecular, cellular andÌýbehaviouralÌýtechnologies, such as, in-vitro electrophysiology, in-vivo optogenetics, in-vivo calcium imaging, and next-generation sequencing in robust mouseÌýbehaviouralÌýmodels.Ìý
Research in the Behavioural Neurogenomics Laboratory employs an integrative circuit-dissection approach combining molecular, cellular and behavioural technologies to determine how experience-dependent plasticity in stress-sensitive neural circuits shapes emotional, motivational and cognitive alterations observed in depression. Unravelling the dynamic interplay between brain circuits and gene networks in behavioural control will enable the development of novel circuit-based treatments to treat, or even prevent, psychopathology in susceptible individuals.
