On this page, we spotlight the celebration of various religious/cultural days of significance, with special focus on events hosted by ۲ݮƵ student groups and other groups in the Montreal area.

Hanukkah 2024

  • December 8, 1:00 - 4:00 PM: Ring in the Hanukkah season by learning a new skill! Join us for a workshop on linocut printmaking, and create beautiful cards for your friends and family! On December 8th, join us for a 3-hour printmaking workshop facilitated by artist Damián Birbrier. Damián will instruct guests on how to design, prepare, and produce their own prints using the linocut technique, otherwise known as block printing. With Hanukkah just around the corner, this workshop will be geared towards creating holiday cards for your loved ones– though guests are more than welcome to create prints for any purpose.

  • December 15, 2024, 11AM - 5PM: Our Hanukkah Market is coming back! Come by the Museum and let us help you take care of all your holiday shopping needs. Featuring an array of local makers, and even a table with goodies from our former boutique, our one-day market will also feature live music, as well as festive beverages and snacks to get you in the holiday spirit. Stay tuned to learn more about what else you can expect from our most festive event of the year!

  • December 16, 2024, 5:00 PM: In collaboration with Congregation Shaar Hashomayim and Temple Emanu-El-Beth Sholom, all are invited to join in a celebration of this festival of lights. Friends from all backgrounds, faiths, and religions are welcome!

  • December 17, 2024, 4:00 - 6:00 PM: Looking to get in the holiday spirit? Got a sweet tooth? You're invited to join L'Annexe at the next Baking Club meetup! Ricki will be leading us to prepare festive chocolate bark - a simple and fun recipe that you could easily recreate at home to enjoy again or to give as gifts. Come and enjoy using our beautiful kitchen, get together with new people, and fine-tune your baking skills in a welcoming space. This workshop is FREE and open to ANYONE aged 16 to 35.

  • December 19, 2024 5:00 - 7:00 PM: L'Annexe is celebrating Chanukah at our December Community Dinner and any and all young adults aged 16 to 35 are invited to join us! We'll be showing one of our favourite Chanukah-themed TV episodes - A Rugrats Chanukah - plus enjoying a festive dinner & activities together in honour of the holiday. Registration is free and mandatory so that we can plan for the correct amount of food and supplies. This event is open to those aged 16 to 35. Please be sure to let us know if you have dietary needs (kosher, etc.) or allergies by emailing us at social [at] lannexe.ca by Tuesday, December 17th at the latest.
  • December 19, 2024 7:00 PM:IJV Montreal invites you to our annual Chanukkah party. Join us for a night of live music, community, and light. At Sala Rossa, 4848 Saint Laurent. $10-25, no one turned away for lack of funds. Proceeds will go towards sustaining the work of IJV Montreal and mutual aid for Palestinians in Gaza.

Christmas 2024

  • November 22-December 30, 2024: bursts to life, transforming the city into a dazzling holiday wonderland for six enchanting weeks. Nearly 80 talented artisans set up shop in picturesque chalets, offering unique creations, local treasures, and heartwarming gourmet treats.
  • November 28-December 29, 2024: Includes a Pageant, Longest Night Service, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services, and more.

  • December 7, 5:30 PM: Registration for our annual Christmas party is open! Join us for a festive evening with food and fellowship! Tickets are $15. The dress code is semi-formal. Register by December 4th so we can plan for food!

  • December8, 3:00 PM: Students are Welcome and Invited to Birks Heritage Chapel at 3520 University Ave for "Advent Through Music," a Free concert of music by instrumentalists, soloists and the Choir of Mountainside United Church.

  • December 9, 2024: This Christmas Party will be a potluck with a white elephant gift exchange! DM for details and locations.

  • Saturdays and Sundays in December: at Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel (free) Écoutez des concerts de chants de Noël pour vivre la magie du temps des Fêtes.

  • December 12, 2024, 1:30 - 4:30 PM: « Days of service » en Français: Service aux tables Tu cherches à te connecter avec les communautés vibrantes de Montréal ? Rejoins-nous à la Maison Aurore, où tu pourras aider à préparer et à servir un délicieux repas de Noël pour les résidents du Plateau !

  • December 13, 2024, 7:30 PM: As every year, Clavecin en concert presents a festive concert under the theme of Nativity. Traditional songs that everyone loves to hear and hum blend with old French hymns and Christmas carols from various regions. Soprano Catherine Saint-Arnaud and the girls' choir Les Voix d'Elles, conducted by Marianne Patenaude, are accompanied by the instrumental ensemble Clavecin en concert, under the direction of Luc Beauséjour.

  • December 14, 2024, 4:00 PM: :A great Christmas tradition in Montreal returns! We invite you to come and sing Handel’s beloved Messiah alongside local emerging classical singers and instrumentalists.Admission is $20 for adults, $10 for students (cash or card).

  • December 14, 4:00 PM: Celebrate the season with joy, laughter, and fellowship at the Christian Medical and Dental Association of Canada Christmas Party!

  • December 15,3:30 - 5:30 PM:Join MORSL and Concordia's Multi-faith and Spirituality Centre for a December installment of the My Neighbour’s Faith event series. We’ll visit Christ Church Cathedral in downtown Montreal to experience Lessons and Carols for Advent.

  • December 15, 2024, 7:30 PM: As is our tradition, a festive Nativity-themed concert. Along with traditional songs that we all love to hear and hum along to are French hymns and carols from different lands. Concert in collaboration with Saint Joseph’s Oratory/Clavecin en concert. Tickets on sale .

  • December 19, 2024, 1:30 - 4:30 PM: « Days of service » en Français: Distribution de cadeaux dans une résidence pour personnes agées Envie de partager la magie du temps des Fêtes tout en vous impliquant dans la communauté? Participez à la distribution de cadeaux au CHSLD Vigi Reine-Élizabeth!

  • December 20, 2024, 7:30 - 9:00 PM: at the Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul. A tradition going back more than fifty years, Carols by Candlelight at The Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul is a highlight of the Christmas season in Montreal. Originally based on the Anglican service of Lessons & Carols, this service balances the serenity and peace of a candlelit procession with the jubilation and exuberance of a trumpet descant. Become a part of this joyous Christmas chorus by lending your voices to sing favourite carols with the renowned A&P Choir, led by conductor Léa Moisan-Perrier, with Mária Budáčová on the organ. We look forward to celebrating with you!

    • Please note that MORSL is not organizing a student group this year (as it often has in years past). However, A&P Rev. Susan Brasier is offering a student experience for the Friday Dec 20th event only.   • December 21, 2024, 12:00 - 5:00 PM: :Join MyFriendFrankie at Epiphany Church in Verdun! Over 25 vendors will be showcasing their final holiday goodies—perfect for those last-minute gifts. Bring your creativity and holiday cheer as we bake and decorate cookies together to share and enjoy.

  • December 21-23, 2024: Once again International Students Ministry will be celebrating the Christmas season with an annual International Students' Christmas Camp! All international students are welcome to join! Every year those who attend the camp find a space of welcome and opportunity to engage in conversation around the themes and story of Christmas. Of course there is also winter fun that you don't want to miss! (Tubing, sledding, snow shoeing). Deadline to sign up is December 8, 2024.
