ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ
Welcome to the ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Sustainability Systems Initiative, a transdisciplinary research organization driving societal change for a sustainable future. Â
The MSSI is the University’s convenor, catalyst, connector, and overall leader of sustainability research efforts. We are comprised of 250 researchers at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ across 9 faculties and collaborators worldwide from all sectors of society. The MSSI develops transdisciplinary research programs that address sustainability systems, focused on the following nexus topics: Sustainable Materials, Urban Environments, Sustainable Landscapes, Sustainability Transitions, and Clean Technology.Â
The MSSI itself is also a system; it’s a departure from the traditional university structures of faculties and departments. We reimagine how academia can be leveraged to tackle the complexity and urgency of global sustainability challenges. We believe in transdisciplinary approaches, where academic disciplines are integrated with non-academic stakeholders to yield impactful results.Â
