“It is worth reflecting on the significance of the sharp rise in diabetes prevalence since the 1980s and the reality that it is a worldwide phenomenon. The sedentary nature of the modern workday and the accessibility of calorie-laden foods are not contained by borders. As individuals and societies, we have to address this issue head-on in how we plan and regulate our lives, schools, workplaces, and environments.”—Kaberi Dasgupta
