About the Prize

The President’s Prize for Public Engagement through Media was created to recognize outstanding achievement among members of the ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ community who share their knowledge with the media and the public. They play a vital role in supporting ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University’s commitment to being of service to society and engaging with the broader community.

Prizes will be given out in four (4) categories:

  • Prize for Groups – for groups of undergraduate or graduate students that engage with the external community and/or the media.
  • Prize for Graduate Student and Postdoctoral Fellows – for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows who are just starting to work with media and engage with the public.
  • Prize for Emerging Researchers – for those who are no more than fifteen (15) years beyond their PhD or other highest degree; and
  • Prize for Established Academics – for those who are more than fifteen (15) years beyond their PhD or other highest degree.

The winners in each category will receive a cheque of $5,000.

The deadline to submit your application is January 31, 2025, at midnight. Winners and runners-up will be notified by mid-March 2025.
