Chemicals

  • An active chemical list will be maintained by the lab manager in accordance with the chemical log practices at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University.

Clothing

  • Purpose of protective clothing is to prevent contamination of the skin and to limit exposure outside the lab.
  • Lab coats are required during all experiments and cleaned thereafter. The lab manager is responsible for coordinating the appropriate use of lab coats.

Electrical Safety

  • High voltage equipment is onsite and remains the responsibility of the lab manager.Ìý

Machine Tools

  • Use of machine tools and power hand tools must be done under the instruction and direct supervision of a faculty or staff member familiar with the hazards and appropriate safeguards for the tool being used.
  • All machine tools must be stored in a locked area or locked out when a supervising faculty or staff member is not present.
  • Never wear gloves, wristwatches, rings, bracelets, or other jewelry while operating machinery.
  • Eye protection must be worn at all times.
  • Chips and debris should be cleaned.
