Biography:

Cat Wang is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Public Health at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University. She majored in Anatomy and Cell Biology for her undergraduate degree, during which she completed her honours thesis in the Department of Molecular Genetics at the Montreal Clinical Research Institute.

Cat first discovered the ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Office for Science and Society (OSS) through a science communication course. She wanted to use her scientific background and knowledge of pop culture to translate reputable science into engaging content for the public. After interning at the OSS as a SURA (Science Undergraduate Research Award) student in the Summer of 2022, she has been involved with the office as a science communicator.

Alongside her studies, Cat has been involved with ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ’s Student Emergency Response Team as a volunteer first responder and course coordinator. She teaches First Aid and CPR courses as a Canadian Red Cross-certified instructor and shares her love for anatomy as a Teaching Assistant in ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

On the weekends, Cat likes to explore the outdoors through running, hiking, and skiing.

Cat’s favourite 3 OSS articles:

  1. Does passing vodka through a Brita filter really improve its taste?
  2. What HBO’s Euphoria Teaches Us About Opioid Use
