Canadian Residency ProgramsÌýconsist of subspecialtyÌýtraining (R4-R5Ìýand R4-R6) often referred to as fellowship programs internationally, as well as core residency training (R1-R4).

What is a Canadian Residency Program?

A Canadian Residency Program consists of specialty and subspecialty programs (R1-4, R4-5, R4-6) fully accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) andÌýthe College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).

What is a Canadian Fellowship Program?

A Canadian Fellowship ProgramÌý(post-residency) is a well-defined clinical and/or clinical-research experience of equal or greater thanÌý1 year which is not accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) orÌýthe College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).

Applicants to fellowship training programs must have satisfactorily completed residency training as well as either Royal College or Board Certification.Ìý Candidates must be deemed eligible to receive a training card by the Collège des Médecins du Québec.
