Biography: 

Aisha Barise was born in Québec, Canada, to a Somali family, and lived in Dubai and Japan. Throughout her life, she acquired Somali, French, Arabic, English, and Japanese. Upon completing a BA (Honours) in Linguistics from Concordia University and studying Japanese at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University, she moved to Japan to teach English as a Foreign Language. She then pursued a Master's of Science in Linguistics at the University of Alberta, specializing in syntax and morpho-syntax. Currently, she is pursuing a PhD in Educational studies with a concentration in Language Acquisition under the Department of Integrated Studies in Education at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University. Her general PhD research interest consists of formal linguistic (syntactic and morphosyntactic development) and sociocultural (plurilingualism, translanguaging, anti-racism) approaches to language acquisition and education.
