Cancer Care Quality & Innovation Program (CQI)

The RCN contributes to the advancement of teaching, research, and education missions of its partner institutions: ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University, the ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University Health Centre (MUHC), the Jewish General Hospital (JGH), and St. Mary’s Hospital Center (SMHC) through its Cancer Care Quality & Innovation Program.Ìý

The Program promotes theÌýshared mission, vision and strategic plan for improving cancerÌýcare quality of the RCN's three affiliated ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ teaching hospitals withÌýthree funding initiatives: Research, Education and the Quality Improvement Initiatives Funds.

Since 2020, theÌýResearch and Education Funds have beenÌýmanaged byÌýtheÌýGerald Bronfman Department of OncologyÌý- ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University, with the ongoing support ofÌýthe RCN's Executive Committee. The partnershipÌýexpands on the academic complementÌýtoÌýRCN activities andÌýbolstersÌýcollaborative research and care networks by maintaining educational, clinical, and research excellence in cancer care.Ìý

CQI Research Fund
The Research Fund allows healthcare professionals at the point of care to define and validate innovations in cancer care quality through collaborative research and care projects across the RCN. The Fund positions ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University teaching hospitals as leaders in the field of cancer care quality research.

CQI Education Fund
Since 2017, the Skills Enhancement Grants program has focused on strategically investing in building know-how and specific skills that translate to quality within the RCN oncology workforce, using validated educational tools. The Kuok FellowshipÌýprovides support to Master's and Doctoral students enrolled at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University by granting them time to pursue research projects of significance and interest within the field of cancer.
