The School of Communication Sciences & Disorders fosters a thriving research environment and all PhD faculty members are working at the leading edge of their respective research fields. Our research programs encompass the latest paradigms to study human communication and its disorders across the lifespan, and are focused on many different languages (English, French, Arabic, Icelandic, Mandarin Chinese, just to name a few). This covers fundamental research on speech and language production and perception, to investigations of the effectiveness of clinical intervention. SCSD faculty members have been highly successful in obtaining external operating funds from the three major Canadian research councils (CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC), Québec funding agencies, and from private foundations.Â
Our research is highly interdisciplinary. In Montreal, our faculty have ongoing collaborations with colleagues in other ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ departments (Psychology, Linguistics, Education, Biomedical Engineering, Neurology and Neurosurgery, and Otolaryngology/Head and Neck surgery) and all members of the School have strong links to Montreal-area research networks, such as the and the . Faculty and students also collaborate actively with top researchers across Canada and internationally.
