Second Year Field Placements are generally carried out in a community-based setting where students participate in outreach, advocacy, referral services, program planning & implementation, case management, policy, and psychosocial assessments.

- To register for this course, students must have completed 15 credits of U1 B.S.W. required courses plus 9 credits derived from any combination of B.S.W. SWRK complementary, non-SWRK complementary, and/or non-SWRK elective courses totalling 24 credits.

Students must have completed a minimum number ofÌý24 credits to begin the second year (U2) field placement. These 24 credits are comprised of all U1 required courses (SWRK 219, SWRK 220, SWRK 221, SWRK 222 andÌýSWRK 224) and any combination of SWRK complementary, non-SWRK complementary, and/or Electives courses totalling 24 credits. Second year students cannot do block placements.
BSW Third Year
Third Year Field Placements are generally carried out in public service institutions focusing on physical and mental health, child protections, and/or disability. Placements focus on direct service with clients, particulary psycho-social assessments, interventions, and evaluations. Activities may include counselling, group work, presenting at case conferences, working on interdisciplinary teams, implementing intervention plans.Ìý
