Dr. Paola Fata appointed Director of the Division of General Surgery
The Department of Surgery is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Paola Fata as Director of the Division of General Surgery, ۲ݮƵ University and ۲ݮƵ University Health Centre, effective July 15 2020. We are very grateful to Dr Barkun for his leadership this year as he guided the Division throughout the COVID‐19 pandemic.

Dr. Liane Feldman appointed Chair
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Liane Feldman to the joint position of Chair of the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, ۲ݮƵ University and Surgeon-in-Chief of the ۲ݮƵ University Health Centre (MUHC). Dr. Feldman succeeds Dr. Gerald Fried, effective January 1, 2020.
Dr. Jake Barralet appointed Director of Innovation
Dr. Jake Barralet appointed Director of Innovation, Steinberg Centre for Simulation and Interactive Learning and the Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Barralet’s primary role will be to position the Faculty of Medicine as a leader in clinical innovation, and ensure that the principles and practice of the innovation cycle are integrated and expanded throughout the Faculty.
Dr. Fackson Mwale appointed Graduate Program Director in Experimental Surgery
Dr. Mwale’s primary duties and responsibilities as GPD are to manage the graduate studies programs (MSc, PhD, Diploma and Certificates), oversee the recruitment process to attract and successfully recruit excellent students, track the progress of graduate students and thesis submissions process of graduate students.
