We have received reports of a Read.AI bot attending or attempting to attend online meetings organized by ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ faculty and staff. The bot uses generative AI to create a text summarizing a meeting’s discussions and decisions; it then shares a link to that document with all participants.

ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University must vet all IT solutions to ensure they safeguard data privacy and security. Read.AI has not been approved for teaching, research, or administrative activities at the University.

Prion diseases came to public attention during the 1980s and ’90s, when Mad Cow Disease was in the news. While transmission to humans from infected beef has largely been eliminated, other forms of these devastating diseases are unfortunately still around, like Creutzfeld-Jacob Disease (CJD). In fact, according to the US Centers for Disease Control, cases of CJD have been on the rise in the last two decades.

Dr. Tina Montreuil, clinical (school) psychologist and associate professor in the department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, was called upon for her expertise in child and adolescent mental health to comment on the recent rapport issued by l’Institut de la statistique du Québec (ISQ). The report highlights the marked rise in mental disorders among high school students.

Dr. Montreuil provides expert opinion on what could explain these increases among children and teens, but also provides insights on prevention opportunities that can arise from these findings.
