Kara Fletcher, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor and the Field Education Research Coordinator at the University of Regina’s Faculty of Social Work, Saskatoon Campus. Kara received a PhD (2017), MSW (2009) and a BA (2007) from ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University. Kara is also an AAMFT accredited couple and family therapist having completed a 500-hour post-graduate diploma through the Jewish General Hospital’s couple and family program (2015). Kara’s programme of research is focused on innovative couple and family interventions encompassing attachment theory, trauma, emotionally focused therapy, addictions, and eating disorders. Kara is currently working on several projects including investigating the experiences of youth attending eating disorder treatment, a qualitative examination of substance relapses as they occur in outpatient treatment, and the role of social workers in Medical Assistance in Dying. Kara continues to work clinically specializing in couple and family therapy in the context of substance use disordersÂ
