Dr. Teresa Strong-Wilson, DISE, Awarded CACS Ted T. Aoki Award for Distinguished Service in Curriculum Studies
This year’s recipient of the is Dr. Teresa Strong-Wilson, DISE.
Teresa was nominated by Dr. William Pinar, who holds the Tetsuo Aoki Professorship in Curriculum Studies. In his nomination letter, Dr. Pinar commented on Teresa’s achievements for the four criteria: a distinguished record of research and publication in the area of curriculum studies as well as in preparing graduate students, active preparation of teaching materials and active service related to Canadian Curriculum studies.
Dr. Pinar wrote: “the candidate’s conceptual contribution to our understanding of curriculum ... is staggering in sequence and scope, showing increasing sophistication over the years in both her curriculum theorizing and pedagogical practice. Strong-Wilson’s ongoing service to curriculum studies in Canada is an astonishing achievement and on the scale Ted Aoki himself would recognize and want to honour.”
