Program Requirement:

The School/Applied Child Psychology program at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University prepares the next generation of school psychologists to provide state of the art educational and mental health services to children and adolescents from birth to 21 years old. Course work, clinical experiences, field and community service, and research activities are designed to enhance and develop the professional skills and the knowledge base of our students. In ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ’s scientist-practitioner training model, research supports and improves our clinical activities; and clinical activities support and inspire our research. ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ’s School/Applied Child Psychology faculty and students are among the most productive research units in North America. Professional school psychologists educated at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ become leaders in research and higher education, school-based practice, hospital-based positions, independent practice, mental health centres, and policy making roles.

Thesis

A thesis for the doctoral degree must constitute original scholarship and must be a distinct contribution to knowledge. It must show familiarity with previous work in the field and must demonstrate ability to plan and carry out research, organize results, and defend the approach and conclusions in a scholarly manner. The research presented must meet current standards of the discipline; as well, the thesis must clearly demonstrate how the research advances knowledge in the field. Finally, the thesis must be written in compliance with norms for academic and scholarly expression and for publication in the public domain.
