JOANNE ALFIERI, MMEd, MDCM, FRCPC is an Associate Professor & Associate Chair for Education in the Gerald Bronfman Department of Oncology at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University. Dr. Alfieri practices as a radiation oncologist specializing in the treatment of gynaecological and gastrointestinal malignancies at the ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ University Health Centre (MUHC).
She has a keen interest in medical education and after completing her medical training, she earned her Masters in Medical Education at the University of Dundee, Scotland. She is the post-graduate Residency Training Program Director for Radiation Oncology since February 2015. As Associate Chair (Education) for the Department of Oncology, she oversees undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate training programs in medical, surgical and radiation oncology.
Her medical education interests include teaching innovation through the use of e-learning and virtual patients, and the motivation driving feedback-seeking behaviours of post-graduate trainees in the competency-based medical education era.
