Hopital de la Providence, 11140 east, Notre-Dame St., Montréal East.

Hôpital de la Providence opened in 1926 in Montreal East near Pointes-aux-Trembles. The Hospital was established as a result of pressure from the local population to have hospital services located closer than central Montreal. It had only 80 beds, but provided both general surgical and medical care.

Its most illustrious physician was the orthopedic surgeon Edouard Samson, the founding president of Caritas-Canada (one of the largest charitable NGO networks in the world) as well as a founding member of the Canadian Orthopedic Society. The hospital was destroyed in a fire in 1939.
