Verdun General Hospital, Verdun, P.Q.

Originally known as Hôpital Général du Christ-Roi de Verdun, this hospital was incorporated in 1928 and its construction was completed in 1932. It was designed in the art deco style by Alphonse Venne. In 1933, the management of the Hospital, because of financial problems related to the Great Depression, was assumed by the Sœurs de la Providence. In 1946, the Sisters opened a school for nursing in a nearby building. In 1973, the hospital was sold to the Quebec Government and now functions as a general hospital affiliated with the University of Montreal.
