Published: 3 April 2017

Professor Dominique Labelle was honoured at the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra  (PBO) and Chorale's annual Winter Gala, held on March 10, 2017.  At the Gala, Labelle premiered a newly commissioned piece which was written for her by Pulitzer Prize winning composer 䲹DZԱ󲹷.

Nicholas McGegan, Director of the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, honoured Ms. Labelle for her extraordinary artistic contributions throughout her career.  She is known as a master of Handel operas, her legendary musicianship as well as her willingness to explore music that spans baroque to contemporary compositions.  She has worked with some of the world’s most respected conductors and composers, and has appeared in 24 PBO productions since 1994,  and last partnered with the Orchestra in an April 2016 production of Mendelssohn’s Hymn of Praise.  Her voice has been called “angelic,” “silvery,” and vibrant,” and her performance of Ms Shaw's commission enchanted the Gala audience.
