Sacha is a Registered Social Worker working in Early Intervention at the BC Centre for Ability in Vancouver, B.C. In this role, she supports families of children with neurodisabilities as they navigate the health and social service system, process a recent diagnosis, seek out resources to enhance the well-being of their family, and support their child’s transition to school-age services.
Since joining the CRCF in 2009, Sacha has coordinated a number of research projects reflecting a range of methodologies (including qualitative, quantitative, mixed method designs) and focused on the caregiving experience, family support needs, social determinants of health, and practice issues for paediatric health and allied health clinicians.
A recipient of an FQRSC grant, she earned her PhD in Social Work in 2018. Her dissertation research focused on the experience of hope among parents of children with neurodisabilities. She remains involved in research with particular interest in the well-being of caregivers of children with neurodisabilities, systems navigation and access to supports and services, and knowledge exchange in the paediatric rehabilitation context.
During her time at ÎÛÎÛ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ, Sacha was involved in the field education program as a field liaison and external field supervisor, as well as being engaged in field education and social work education research.
