Performance Studies D.Mus.

Program Overview

The Doctor of Music (DMus) in Performance Studies focuses on practice through in-depth research in areas linked to performance. The program includes a doctoral project that is completed through artistic research or research paper options. Live performance requirements are part of both options.

The program is offered in all Orchestral instruments, Conducting, Piano, Organ, Early Music instruments, Voice, Guitar, and Jazz.

A minimum of two years' residence is required beyond the M.Mus. in Performance, or its equivalent.

Students in this program have won Schulich Graduate Excellence fellowships, SSHRC, Fulbright, DAAD, FRQSC, Canada Council fellowships; they have also won Golden Violin, recording and other national and international performance competitions.

Graduates pursue teaching and performing careers in a wide variety of contexts, and have won major national and international competitions.
